Harold and Olympia Lonsinger Sustainability Research Farm
Harold Lonsinger, Alton, has given a gift of land to the Kansas State University Foundation to establish the Harold and Olympia Lonsinger Sustainability Research Farm. Lonsinger gave 2,300 acres of Osborne County farmland to Kansas State University to develop a research farm focusing on sustainable agricultural practices and soil conservation, reclamation and protection.
HB Ranch
Ownership of the HB Ranch was transferred to the Kansas State University Foundation in 1994 by the estate of Caroline Hearting Beason and Mace Virgil Beason. The property is located about four miles south of Cedar Bluff Reservoir in Trego County, Kansas.
Saline Experimental Range
The Saline Experimental Range (SER) was purchased by the KSU Agricultural Research Center - Hays in 1994. Prior to this purchase, the research center’s cow herd was randomly located on rented grass during the summer months. The SER purchase provided a long-term solution for the herd and opened opportunities for research. The SER is 2,400 acre contiguous tract of native range.
